And now we can compare the Alternatives...

Once you inserted information about alternatives and created at least one Plan of Analysis - you can run the analysis! Just click pad "Alternatives and Analysis" of main menu, check the alternatives you want to analyze, select Plan from drop-down list and click button "Analyze Alternatives".

The graph shows the total ratings of alternatives. In the table below you can see comprehensive analytical information including final rangs and ratings of alternatives, results of the Pareto domination analysis.

Alternative Final Results Driving Safety Economy
Rang Rating Dom Rang Rating Dom Rang Rating Dom Rang Rating Dom
Car3 1 0.729 B2 1 0.896 A2 2 0.757 C2 3 0.145 B
Car1 2 0.466 B2 2 0.571 C2 3 0.162 B3 1 0.627 B
Car2 3 0.376 B2 3 0.158 C3 1 0.825 B2 2 0.342 B

Rangs show you order of the alternatives in final ranking or in rankings within every General Parameter, so the less rank - the better. The rating is vice versa: the more - the better.

You should remember that 'simple weighing' method belongs to "compensatory" methods. It means that, for example, some alternative with rather weak main parameters may get a very high rating due to its good values on the minor parameters.

To eliminate this compensatory effect system provides Pareto analysis of the alternatives on all parameters and on a subset of the most important parameters. In the table you can see results of Dominant Analysis of the Alternatives.

Dominant Analysis marks from the best to the worst: A1->A2->B1->B2->B3->C2->C3

  • A1 - Dominates on all parameters and dominates on main parameters
  • A2 - Dominates on all parameters and not dominated on main parameters
  • B1 - Not dominated on all parameters and dominates on main parameters
  • B2 - Not dominated on all parameters and not dominated on main parameters
  • B3 - Not dominated on all parameters and dominated on main parameters
  • C2 - Dominated on all parameters and not dominated on main parameters
  • C3 - Dominated on all parameters and dominated on main parameters

Alternative X dominates alternative Y on main parameters if all values of the main parameters of alternative X are not worse and at least one value is better than corresponding values of Y.
Alternative X dominated by alternative Y on main parameters if all values of the main parameters of alternative X are not better and at least one value is worse than corresponding values of Y.

If you can see only letter as Pareto analysis mark it means that no main parameters have been checked in the Plan. In this case you have result only for full set of parameters. 'A' means that this alternative dominates, 'B' means that alterative is not dominated, and 'C' means that alternative is dominated.

ESTIMATION AND CHOICE runs analysis even if some values of parameters are missed for some alternatives. If at least 70% of alternatives have the value of this parameter, than for the rest alternatives missed values will be restored as average. In this case you will see in the table column "Rel" - it is Reliability index. The less this index- the better. Blank field means that no parameters were missed. This Index shows percent of artificially restored missed parameters. For example 30% means that 30 percents of parameters of the current Alternative have been calculated during analysis for current General parameter as average values.

In case if some missed values have been restored as average you will see the corresponding warnings along with calculated values of the Utility Functions of missed parameters (because as you can remember only the values of the Utility Functions take part in calculation of ratings of the Alternatives).

So now you have comprehensive analytical information which allows you to make the right decision. But ESTIMATION AND CHOICE provides you with even more possibilities! You can run analysis separately for every alternative - just click its name on graph or in the results table - and analyze Alternative at parameters level! Also you can run a Benefit/Cost Analysis - to take a close look at efficacy of your decision.
